Autocom has release two new Bluetooth Adaptors (Dongles) which now allow riders to wirelessly connect Bluetooth devices to their Autocom systems.
These Adaptors do not replace the cables that connect helmet headsets to the Autocom systems, as the Autocom speakers require sufficient power to give Rider & Pillions the high quality STEREO that they are accustom to.
Autocom's Bluetooth Adaptors will allow Bluetooth devices such as Mobile Phones & GPS systems to be connected without the need to have physical wires.
There are two Bluetooth Adaptors available, and the choice of Adaptor will depend on which Autocom system is used.
| Autocom has recently enabled their latest models to output Power from AUX 1. This is designed to enable devices, such as the Bluetooth Adaptors, to be powered directly from the Autocom unit. | |
Autocom units with a sticker (shown right) should only use the Bluetooth Adaptor Part 1273. If this sticker is not on the unit, then the Bluetooth Adaptor Part 1276 should be used.
Most of the current range of Autocom units (Easi-PLUS, Active-PLUS, & Super Pro AVi) will either have this sticker, or these units can be returned to us to have this feature enabled.
Previous Autocom models (Easi-7, Active-7, Pro-7, etc) do not have the capability to output power. For these models use Bluetooth Adaptor Part 1276.

The Bluetooth Adaptor has two Dust-Covers at the end, which must be temporarily removed to access the On/Off button and LED.
(Please do not misplace the dust covers, as they must be replaced when set-up is complete.)
When the Bluetooth Adaptor is installed correctly, the Adaptor will turn on automatically with the bike's ignition, and the Adaptor's LED will start flashing slowly (about once a second).

First step is to turn OFF the Adaptor by pressing and holding the Adaptor's On/Off button. This will be indicated when the red LED is completely OFF. The next step is to turn back ON the Adaptor, and prepare it to "Pair" with the Device. IMPORTANT: After waiting a few seconds to make sure the LED is OFF. Once the LED is OFF.... Press and hold the button CONTINUOSLY. The LED will come on and flash periodically for a few seconds, and will then settle in to a continuous "RAPID" Flashing mode. It is important to have the LED Flashing RAPIDLY. The LED will flash a few times a second. |

While the LED is flashing "RAPIDLY"... Enter the phones Bluetooth Menu and select "Add Devices". (this may also be shown on some phones as "Find Devices" or something similar. |

The phone should come up with the Autocom Bluetooth Adaptor as "Autocom Dongle". Select "Autocom Dongle". The phone will then ask for the necessary Password. Enter the Password "0000". The Phone will then show a Headset symbol at the top of the screen.
|
* The Autocom Adaptor is set to Automatically answer the phone. Please turn OFF the "Auto Answer" function on the phone. The Autocom Adaptor will answer any incoming call in about 5 seconds.
* The Phone's Bluetooth feature should be set to "Enable". This will allow the Autocom Adaptor and Phone to Autocomatically Pair when the Bike's power is turned ON. If the phone's Bluetooth setting is not "Enabled" then the phone will not Pair autocomatically, and the phone will have to be Paired manually.
* Some phones require certain Bluetooth devices to be "Authroised". This feature may be Prompted by the phone during the initial Pairing stage. If asked for this, select "YES". Authorising devices allows the device to Automatically Pair when both devices are turned ON.
* Once the Adaptor and phone have been Paired... test the Pairing by turning ON and OFF the Bike. (There is normally a short few second delay with the phone and adaptor when "unpairing" and "pairing", this is normal.) It is important to test the "Pairing" a few times to make sure the two devices are paired correctly. Each time the Bike is turned ON, there will be a few short "Beeps" in the Riders Headset, and the phone will show the Bluetooth Headset on the phone's screen.
* It is also a good idea to test the pairing by having someone call you a few times. If the first call is sucessful, but the following calls do not connect, then the pairing has not been done correctly, and the two devices must be paired again. (see following)
* IMPORTANT.... If the pairing appears not to have been done successfully, then the Adaptor (Autocom Dongle) MUST be removed fromthe Phone's Device List, and repaired again. The Adaptor CANNOT be paired over the top of an existing device. To Pair the Adaptor and Phone again, remove the "Autocom Dongle" from the phone, and start the process again.
