By design the basic components of a communication system are the microphone, amplifier and speaker(s). The microphone picks up the sound of your voice while the amplifier amplifies it to the speakers.
Because Autocom Rider Systems are so expandable, they are generally sold as individual kits and components.
Anywhere really. The Super-Pro-Auto measures 142mmx60mmx24mm. The Logic systems are slightly smaller. These small sizes allow you to either mount the units on the bike such as under the seat, or alternatively in Tank bags or Panniers. You can even carry the units in jacket pockets (with care of course).
Yes, in fact Autocom has headset leads and helmet "looms" specifically designed to accommodate in-ear (monitor) speakers, which can be used use with current as well as older systems.
If you want the best sound and volume out of the speakers, you need to maximise their positioning. Three things to realise when positioning your speakers: 1) a foam filled container (a helmet) is not the best conductor of sound,
Side tones, simply put, are your ability to hear your own voice when you speak. It is how your brain gets the feedback it requires to adjust the volume of your voice to suit the environment you are in at any given time.
Autocom units are water-resistant by design, but they are not waterproof. Why? All electronics create heat, which is why your computer has a cooling fan and your television case is so well vented.
Mobile phones will auto-answer on all Autocom systems. It is the actual phone's settings that determines this, as this happens with any hands-free device plugged into the phone. This can normally be set within your phones menu system, and you should see this option for "Auto Answer on Headset" (or something similar).
Depending on how well you set the speaker positioning and use the microphone loud spot, will depend on how much sound level you will have at the ear.
There are basically two ways the Autocom systems can be powered... Portably or 12volt Bike Powered.
The new Logic systems can both be powered portably using standard AA batteries (x3), or alternatively connected to the bike's 12volt power.
There are a few options for Transceivers/CBs with the Autocom systems. The main differences come down to physical size and power output.
Microphone and speaker positioning is the key to getting the best performance out of your intercom. Please use these tips along with the headset instructions.
The basic principle of an intercom is a microphone, amplifier and speaker. (of course phones and transceivers are just wireless extensions of the system and usually interface into the main control box with other inputs such as music).
